Why did you choose to go to Copenhagen, Denmark?

It was relevant for my Master's thesis

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I haven't received any yet. I will receive approximately 500 euros when I come back

What is the student lifestyle like in Copenhagen?

It's pretty cool ! We don't have a lot of classes, we have lots of free time. Lots of parties and cultural events are organized for students.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Copenhagen to other students?

Yes! It is a great atmosphere and the university is modern and friendly. But beware of the prices!

What is the food like?

Not really good : lots of rye bread, fish and pork... But you're not forced to eat only Danish food ;)

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Copenhagen?

The accommodation situation is really difficult in Copenhagen. For overseas students, no problem, the International Office will provide it; but for European students, you have to find it on your own and it's a real challenge. They give you a list of people renting rooms, but the competition is fierce (they receive like 100 responses a day), so it takes a while to find something, and it can be far in the suburbs.

How much does it cost to live in Copenhagen?

It's a really expensive city. Minimum 400 euros to rent a room, and a cup of coffee in a regular coffeeshop costs minimum 4 euros for example.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The Danish language is quite hard, especially to pronounce, but everybody speaks English perfectly, so you don't have to learn Danish if you don't really want to. Language courses are available and they are really good, you improve really fast.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Copenhagen from your city?

Plane

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Copenhagen?

Any bar in the centre, you can find very good places everywhere.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Copenhagen?

The Laundromat Café is a pretty chilled place!

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Lousiana Museum of Modern Art, Design Museum.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Copenhagen in the future?

Take warm clothes with you! And have fun :)
