Chocolate heaven
Lindt chocolates are extremely popular in Europe, and I love how their chocolate melts in your mouth. In the United states of America, Hershey is the most popular brand of chocolate, but you can buy basic Lindt chocolates in every major grocery store. They are on the pricey side comparing to other (more American) brands. But they taste so much better, so the higher price does not even bother me.
Last week, I went shopping to a great place, called Cincinnati premium outlets (Yay, cheap stuff! ), and I will describe the outlets in a separate entry. I just thought that the place I am describing in this entry is cool enough to deserve a special description in a separate post.
So, back to the original thought - these outlets are basically a big outdoor shopping village, and there is over fifty stores there, so I am obviously not aware of each one of them. I was bored and I needed to buy some new clothes for winter, so I decide to just walk around the shopping village and see if any of the stores attracts my attention.
And it did - although it was not a clothing store. When walking through one of the streets in the outlets, I noticed a blue sign, saying Lindt chocolate shop. And of course, as a chocolate lover, I had to enter and check this place out.
Where is this Lindt chocolate shop situated?
As I have already mentioned at the beginning of this entry, the Lindt chocolate shop is situated in a shopping village, called Cincinnati premium outlets. If you drive from Cincinnati to Dayton (or vice versa), the outlets are situated about halfway between both cities. And you cannot possibly miss them, because the outlets are situated just off the highway in Monroe. So regardless on which direction you are driving from, take the exit in Monroe. There are signs that will point you to the outlets, and everything is so clearly labelled that it is impossible to get lost.
Once you reach the shopping village, it is time to find the Lindt chocolate shop. If you are not paying attention, you will easily pass this place, because despite the big sign above the entrance, Lindt chocolate shop is pretty easy to miss if you look straight and not to the side.
For an easier orientation (so you can find this amazing place faster), keep in mind that Lindt chocolate shop is situated between Ann Taylor factory store and the restrooms, opposite the Talbots store.
What can you buy there?
A short answer to this question would be: Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. But I would like to tempt you a little bit, because this is not your average chocolate store. Feel free to keep reading if you would like to find out more.
This place is literally heaven for people who like Lindt chocolates. And as soon as you enter, a salesperson will greet you with a basket, full of Lindt chocolate truffles, which are free samples. You can obviously only take one, but hey, why would I complain about free chocolate?
And the first thing you see, will be glass containers, full of Lindt chocolate truffles, arranged by colours (and therefore different flavours). I was speechless for a few moments, and then I hurried there to check out the flavours, and I was speechless again. I had no idea there are so many different Lindts flavours.
Some of my favourite flavours were the following (and just thinking about them now makes my mouth water): Irish cream, mint chocolate, raspberry, double fudge swirl, coconut, lime, mango, citrus, straciatella, extra dark and others.
I regret not buying the whole store!
So how does buying things in this store work? You get a bag, put as many things inside as you want, take it to the checkout desk where they will weigh and count your chocolates, you will pay and then you are ready to sample those delicious flavours.
When paying for your items, ask for a sample of coffee - they infuse it with different chocolate truffle flavours from the store! I was really tempted to get a large size of salted caramel truffle infused coffee, but then I remembered I already bought twenty chocolate truffles that I have to try, so I decided to try that next time I visit the Lindt chocolate store. And I have a feeling that this will happen very soon.
How much do things cost?
The chocolate bark is the most expensive thing in the Lindt chocolate store. A small piece will cost you around eight dollars (Depending on exact weight), which is more than ten chocolate truffles. I think I made my preference quite clear with this statement. But since I sampled just about everything in that shop, let me tell you this: if you would really like to try the chocolate bark, try the lemon one. It has an interesting blend of two flavours - white chocolate and lemon. You can sample the coffee for free, and chocolate truffles cost sixty five cents per piece. Prices of sets vary, depending on size and flavours, but the price ranges from fifteen to thirty dollars.
A few words for the end…
When you are living far away from home, simple things, such as finding a brand of chocolate that you like from your home country, can make you really happy. I really enjoyed trying out all the Lindt flavours I had no idea existed, and I promised to myself that I will eat the Lindt chocolate much more often once I move back to Europe, because after trying all those unusual flavours, I feel like I never appreciated this brand as much as I should. And the best thing about this store - they have gift cards!
