What's the deal with indoor entertainment centers?
Does bowling, eating pizza and playing arcade games sound like a great way to spend a few hours to you? If yes, then you should head to this amazing indoor entertainment center, called Main Event. Situated in a small city of West Chester, this place is a great way to satisfy your inner child. So let me tell you a little bit more about this place, and hopefully you will decide to visit it someday.
Where (and when) to go to Main Event?
West Chester is situated between the Ohioan cities of Cincinnati and Dayton, but the place is much closer to Cincinnati that it is to Dayton. Driving to Cincinnati from there will take you around fifteen minutes, whereas you will have to drive for forty minutes or so to reach Dayton from there.
Main event West Chester is situated inside the Streets of West Chester shopping complex, which has some other cool places and stores worth visiting, but more about them in one of my upcoming blog posts. You can find Main event West Chester on 9477 Oxford way, and you can see that building from pretty far away - it looks like a big box, and it is grey and blue. You can even see it from the highway. So if you get lost on the way there, you have my respect.

Main Event West Chester has an interesting timetable. It is usually open quite late at night, making it a perfect spot for an after - work fun. If you are lucky enough to work close, of course. On Mondays and Fridays, Main Event West Chester is open from eleven in the morning to two in the morning (who said all Mondays are bad???), on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, you can go there between eleven in the morning and midnight, and on Saturdays, this place stays open between nine in the morning and two in the morning!
What is inside?
The first thing you will notice when you enter the Main event building, is how dark it is inside. I like to think that the reason for the dark interior is so you can see all the flashing lights from the arcade game machines, and all this reminds me of some of the casinos in Las Vegas. Yeah, I guess I do not need to travel all the way to Vegas to see the flashing lights and spend some money… but playing games is much much cheaper in West Chester.

The most popular thing to do at Main Event West Chester is definitely bowling. And how do I know that? I know because every single time me and my friends want to play bowling there, we have to wait for an available lane for at least twenty minutes. Renting a bowling lane costs thirteen dollars per person, and bowling shoes are included in that price, which makes it a pretty sweet deal.
The second most popular thing to do there, and definitely my favourite, is definitely the highline walking. This is literally an obstacle course quite a few feet above the ground. In fact, you will be much closer to the roof than to the ground when up there. You will be protected by a special harness, so you will not hit the ground if you lose your balance and fall.

Other than that, you will find all your typical arcade games at Main Event West Chester, some of them new, and some of them from your childhood. The price for each game varies and it usually ranges from half a dollar to two dollars, and after each game, you will earn tickets, based on how well you played. You can later redeem the tickets for fun prizes, but keep in mind that you have to spend a few hundred dollars on games to be eligible for really good prizes, such as an iPad.

Food and drinks
Main Event West Chester has a bar in the middle of everything, a pizzeria, and a small restaurant. The pizzeria offers a few kinds of pre - made pizzas, pepperoni being the most popular one. The bar and restaurant have a pretty extensive menu, but do not expect a five star restaurant with a Michelin star. However, if you are hungry, their sandwiches and flatbreads will do the job.

Food and drinks at Main Event West Chester are on the pricey side, but this is to be expected in a venue like that. Well, if you do not feel like spending fifteen dollars on a sandwich, you can just walk to one of many restaurants around Main Event, including my favourite Tex - Mex place, Chuy’s.
A few words for the end…
When I still lived in Europe, I never went to any indoor entertainment center… well, maybe because they are not that popular over there. To be honest, I do not even know which one is the closest to my hometown. But in the United states of America, every major city has at least one indoor entertainment center. And Main Event West Chester is definitely one of the best ones I have been to. I mean, high line obstacle course? Sign me up!
