Cool mall with cool stores

Why go to Kenwood mall?

I have lived in the United states of America for almost two years now, and one of the things that I noticed here is that everybody here loves shopping. And no wonder why, the shopping malls in the United states of America are just so beautiful! I mean, like it is not enough that they have the most awesome stores in the shopping malls, their malls are also real architectural wonders sometimes. I am not a big fan of spending a ton of money on clothes, but I do love to stroll through shopping malls and just look at things.

A few months ago, I had a work related meeting in Cincinnati, and one of my friends suggested to meet at the Kenwood mall after my meeting to walk around and get coffee. I accepted the invitation, and I am glad I did, because I have returned to Kenwood mall eight times since then because I wanted  to explore its amazing stores more in details.

The entrance into the Kenwood mall looks pretty inviting. But wait until you see the interior!

How to get there?

The Kenwood mall is situated on 7875 Montgomery road, and to get there, regardless on the direction you are coming from, you have to take the exit 22 towards Montgomery road. After you exit the highway, keep going straight for about five miles, and you will see the mall on your right. This is where you have to turn right at the traffic light, and then immediately right again, which is where the parking lot is situated. If there are no parking spots on that parking lot, you can park in an underground parking garage.

The entrance into the underground parking garage can be hard to find if you do not know where to look for it -  is situated behind this Restoration hardware building.

You will see mall maps throughout Kenwood mall. It is impossible to find what you are looking for without looking at a map, trust me.

Inside the Kenwood mall

Kenwood mall is full of great shops and restaurants. I will only mention my favourites here.

I know I am always talking about sweets and desserts, but I cannot help it. If a dessert is good, it deserves to be mentioned. And the first desert place on the do - not - skip - list in Kenwood mall, is a little store, called Gigi’s cupcakes. Despite the fact that the cheapest cupcake in there costs almost four dollars, I had to buy three during my last visit. The cupcakes are super moist, some of them even have filling in them, and there is a generous dose of frosting on the top of each little creation. My favourite flavour there is the lemon meringue cupcake, filled with key lime cream. Do I need to say more?

The Kenwood mall can get pretty crowded on weekends.

I am sure you have heard of Pink, the popular Victoria’s secret sub - brand. And the Pink store at the Kenwood mall is one of the biggest stores of this brand I have been to so far. The two Pink stores at my local malls, Dayton mall and the Mall at Fairfield commons, are way smaller than that one. This Pink store is divided into three separate rooms, and they often offer promotions and discounts. Do you need more reasons to go there? Fine - once a month, they run a buy one, get one fifty percent off promotion.

Blue chip cookies is my favourite store in the Kenwood mall for getting a quick snack. And they are selling, well, cookies, in a wide variety of different flavours. The most unique flavour is definitely the cinnamon jalapeno cookie, and as much as I hate to admit it, this flavour combination is actually pretty good. But do not worry, they also sell more ordinary flavours, such as the chocolate chip cookie, which is baked to perfection - still crunchy on the outside, but still a little gooey on the inside. Yummy!

Hot Topic is the store my inner emo kid would fall in love with when I was in high school… if I knew that this store existed back then. Band shirts, goth clothes, band kitsch,… And crazy discounts and promotions almost every time I visit this store. I know I am probably too old to wear such clothes now, but I still love browsing through Hot Topic every once in a while.

If you are looking for some great, albeit a little expensive shoes, you can head to Aldo shoes. It is true that their shoes are just a little too pricey, but they look great, and the quality is amazing. I bought a pair of shoes there shortly after I arrived to the United states of America, and I wear them to work almost every day, and they still look new.

So many stores, so little time...

What to do nearby?

Kenwood mall is situated just a few miles outside Cincinnati, which means there are plenty of things to do nearby. My two favourites include cooking lessons at Peachy’s (which I already described in one of my previous posts) and the big entertainment center, called Main Event West Chester, which reminds me of Scene 75 (I wrote a blog post about that place too). In general, this area is filled with stores and restaurants, and I love to go there and explore on my days off.

A few words for the end…

If I am going to spend my time and money shopping, I prefer to do it in a nice place, such as the Kenwood mall. This mall is filled with well known, and some less popular stores, and they have a wide variety of restaurants as well, where you can refresh and get some energy to continue shopping.
