Erasmus Experience in Castellón De la Plana, Spain by Emer

Why did you choose to go to Castellón De la Plana, Spain?

I chose Castellon de la Plana as an Erasmus destination mainly because of its location, it isn't a big city (Like where I live in Dublin), but it's only 40 minutes from Valencia and also it's by the sea.

Castellon is more like a town but the student lifestyle is good (plenty of parties and everything is very cheap).

Would you recommend the city and the University of Castellón De la Plana to other students?

I would totally recommend it, the university is very modern and there are a lot of people who are willing to help you with whatever enquires you may have or help you choose the right modules to study.

What is the food like?

I am a vegetarian so it's difficult for me to eat out in the restaurants or cafes, but according to my friends' experience the food is good enough.

I found my accommodation easily through this Erasmus website, so I would recommend anyone coming here on Erasmus to sort it out before getting here. A lot of people had difficulties finding a place on their own.

How much does it cost to live in Castellón De la Plana?

My rent is 200 € a month including bills.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

It is, not many people speak English here, so you find yourself forced to practice the language a lot, which I find very helpful.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Castellón De la Plana from your city?

Unfortunately, there's only direct flights from my town to Valencia in the summer months, so I fly to Barcelona and get a 5 euro bus down.

There are many pubs and cafes in the city centre and the two main clubs are Santos and Mambos
