Freshers week!!
'And what the hell is this about Freshers' week? ' we all asked ourselves a few days ago when we were proclaimed freshers everywhere, as well as the upcoming events and parties.
Well then, the Freshers are the newbies, the ones who just got to University. In an attempt for them to not get frightened and go home already, the Students' union is in charge of organising a series of events and parties in order to put all of this in the University dynamics as soon as possible. The said week started yesterday (Sunday 19th) and will last until the 26th or 27th. In other words, 7 nights of excessive craziness where fun is guaranteed.
In order to be a part of all of this, we went out last night to the Welcome Party and it wasn't normal - a crazy party, with many, many people; the organisers firing something at everyone (I maintain that it was vodka, although they say it was lemonade) with water pistols, stopping the music every half hour to play games, playing chart music for people to sing and dance to: everything and more. And we weren't going to be any less.
The establishment looked so good. It was full to the brim with people celebrating leaving their parents' houses. The organisers were in black, orange and green (according to their position of responsibility) and every time they spotted that someone wasn't dancing or was alone, they introduced them to the first person to pass by in front of them. Simply crazy.
It was a night that thanks to the heavens, didn't have anything to do with our first departure and much improved our vision of the British night. It would seem it's just a matter of waiting for the young people to arrive. They also told us that it's better to go out on Tuesdays or Thursdays, which are the student nights, par excellence. This will have to be paid attention to.
Kisses,
Laura
