What is it like to live in Cairo? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is quite interesting if you got used in the life style. Cairo is so big that each area is different completely than the other "Socially and structurally" But most of the cooperates are in the good districts.
I recommend living in Cairo only if the university is near to the dorms and there are transportation available. Another thing that is very good; almost every thing can be delivered from grocery to restaurant food

What is the student lifestyle like in Cairo?

It is like the rest of the world. Students get their courses in the campus and do their assignments at home. Most of the universities here have friendly staff that can help you with any information. Of course some of the material should be self learnt. But some may see that the teaching material is not advanced enough especially in engineering.

How much does it cost to live in Cairo?

An average person would pay monthly :
1000-3000 egp rent
1000 food
1000 etc
Total 3000-5000 egp ---- 165 - 270 euros which is very cheap to people outside of Egypt

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Cairo? Is there any advice you can give?

No, if you searched online, you will find alot of free places. There are also an app for renting.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There are international cuisines are all over Egypt. But nothing can be compared to the Egyptian food, but I wont recommend eating from the street carts. My favorite dish is "Fool" which is beans that are stewed and cooked in spices and oil. Very tasty

What places would you recommend visiting in Cairo?

Of course the Pyramids and the Museum of Egypt. Cairo Tower will grant you a unique view. And any place with a Nile view

What advice would you give future students heading to Cairo?

Pick an accommodation near to your Campus, and use "Uber" for transportation. Also look at the " Cairo Spots " website if you want to know where to hangout
