What is it like to live in Cairo? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It feels like all the citizens are living together. The moment you wake up you can hear all the horns, noise even people's conversations. Extremely crowded and loud. That is a bittersweet thing. It's dangerous yet safe because people are always offering help sometimes too nosy. Women returning home with baskets of vegetables. Oriental music waving by of every taxi that passes. Because its bad weather you learn to appreciate every fresh breeze. Nightlife ON. Amazing food everywhere. Delivery and 24 hours open. Lots of stray dogs.. and children. Diversity. The ancient city of old mosques, churches and pharaonical beauty and then confusion to the eye; modern buildings, compounds and clubs.

Schools of every origin; English, French or German. CROWDED. Every hour is rush hour in Cairo.

What is the student lifestyle like in Cairo?

Not ideal. The educational system in Egypt is very low ranked.

How much does it cost to live in Cairo?

The electricity bill is high due to a necessity to turn on the AC. Food is also expensive. Transportation is fair. Entertainment depends. I would say around 2000+ L. E depending on your lifestyle!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Cairo? Is there any advice you can give?

Not really. Egypt is very crowded as mentioned and you can basically live anywhere just beware of scams and rip-offs.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is amazing. Comfy and warm. Koshary and foul are the most famous meals. (Yes, meals). Koshary is a mixture of pasta, lentils, rice and hummus all covered in (spicy) tomato and garlic sauce (Breath will stink and all the carbs will not benefit your intestines but so worth it). And foul is the typical egyptian breakfast, mashed cooked beans (with salad/eggs optional).

What places would you recommend visiting in Cairo?

Khan El Khalily. Old cairo. Moez Street.

Is it good to eat out in Cairo? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it is. Avoid westernized restaurants though, too typical and expensive. For an authentic experience try local food. Korba, Giza... .
