What is it like to live in Cairo? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

i see live is cairo is okay for ppl who like social life , ppl are helpful and they always offer to give u a hand and they like to interact with everything " well sometimes its being nosey lol"
yes if u are coming to the middle east for a study i say from my experience Cairot is one of the best choices for the culture and life.
but u i ve to note that , after past events u ve to be careful and get away protesters areas and main plazas

How much does it cost to live in Cairo?

depends on how is one's lifestyle , but i would say for a single person would cost him like about 2000 LE = 250 E all in all. expenses here is almost cheap only the rental flats maybe costly and the culture is not used to have the shared flats like in Europe , but once u get ur shared place everything else would be okay.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Cairo? Is there any advice you can give?

depends on where u want to live and the standard of flats u like to stay in. as i said previously the culture is not used to have shared flats for students BUT yes there are some where the private universities in new towns, this is becuz the students from abroad " mostly arab region".

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

u can buy ur own food and cook where u are . i would recommend u go buy from hyper markets ..they are much better than small shops or groceries around , ye little higher price but u get good and healthier food

What places would you recommend visiting in Cairo?

lots of places . and thats becuz cairo and giza are of the oldest places in world that had civilization and life .
if u need historical places there are many many, but for natural spots there only few to sight seeings like Al-Azhar park and other parks
few intertainment parks like Dream Land and Jero land are there but i see they are really good if u wish to ve a fun day playing :)

Is it good to eat out in Cairo? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

um talking about food i dont recommend u get food from the shops in main squares like Ramsis , Ataba, Abasya.
traditional food is nice but u need to taste it little first to see if its okay with ur stomach. i mean " koshary , fool and falafel ..etc"
there are many international brands for food here and my western friends said they were almost same taste and lower price maybe.

Is the nightlife good in Cairo? Where is good to go?

yes and i myself like to go by the Cornish of River Nile at night or in old islamic city in cairo ..there its wonderful to spend a spring night
