Why did you choose to go to Cádiz, España?

I got an internship in Cádiz. I always wanted to see Andalusia so this seemed like a perfect opportunity.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I suppose it changes from country to country. For Erasmus placement I was only granted a 4 month scholarship, although I stayed for 5, 5 months.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Cádiz to other students?

"Sí".

What is the food like?

Variety of tapas and fish. A lot of fried food (pescado frito).

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Cádiz?

There are a lot of web sites where you can search for flats, as well as Facebook groups. This can be pretty useful.

However, if you're staying in July as well, it might be a bit more difficult to find a place to stay. Landlords usually rent their flats to so called 'veraneos' (tourists and they charge more). So make sure to ask you future landlord/lady about that.

How much does it cost to live in Cádiz?

I would say you need around 500-600€/month for a comfortable living. You can easily spend less or more. Depends on whether you have to take bus to Puerto Real, how much are you willing to pay for the flat, how often you go out...

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

Spanish here can be pretty difficult to understand at the beginning because of the accent. If you are an Erasmus student you can take a Spanish course at the faculty. It costs about 150€ for 3-4 months, 5x per week.

However, if you are here through Erasmus placement you cannot get the reduced price! At least not this year. The full price is almost 400€ which is quite ridiculous. But there are a lot of pubs that organize 'intercambios' or tandems where you can practice your Spanish. Living with a Spanish roommate also helps.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Cádiz from your city?

From Slovenia the flights are not that cheap. It depends on when you are travelling. But the cheapest connection I was able to find was from Bologna or Milano to Sevilla.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Cádiz?

I haven't had much time to party yet. But among Erasmus students, La Punta is quite popular. I prefer pubs and bars around the city center.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Cádiz?

Market is a pretty good place to try different tapas, as well as Cumbres Mayores.

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Cádiz?

Bring your bikini and go surfing. Don't forget the scarf as it's pretty windy.
