Why did you choose to go to Cadiz, Spain?

I wanted to go to Spain for my Erasmus experience and Cadiz one of the options, I was happy about it because I love Andalusia.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

This was during my first year of Master, during 6 months. I am sorry, I don't remember how much I received.

What is the student lifestyle like in Cadiz?

It's great! I had so much fun, met lovely people and did learn a lot. I loved meeting students from everywhere in Europe, even from Mexico. So many different cultures, we can learn from each other.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Cadiz to other students?

Definitely! Cadiz is a lovely city. Big enough for different types of activities. Not too far from great cities such as Sevilla, Granada... The University of Cadiz is great. Good teachers, nice buildings and area.

What is the food like?

The food was nice but as students we were generally cooking at home (cheaper). However, we did find our favorite tapas place where we went a lot!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Cadiz?

My roommate's mum is Spanish and knew people in Cadiz, so it was easy for us to find a place. We did find it before arriving. But I would suggest to find a place with people you don't know, it's great to meet new people. In the University, they have some offers displayed to help students to find a place.

How much does it cost to live in Cadiz?

At that time (4 years ago already... ), the life wasn't expensive in Cadiz, especially for students. We could go out in town or even organise weekends somewhere in Andalusia or Ibiza!

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I did speak Spanish before I arrived, but not perfectly! The others students are nice and helpful with the language. We all spoke Spanish to each other, not English at all, which is good for learning. I believe there were language courses in the University, but I didn't wish to take them.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Cadiz from your city?

We decided to go by car, so that we had a car in Cadiz. We didn't use the car in Cadiz, because the buses are great or you can even buy a cheap bike. But it did help to travel around, for example Granada.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Cadiz?

I would recommend to find a nice Tapas place, then go to a bar in the old town (parte antigua) then go to a club.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Cadiz?

There are great tapas restaurants in Cadiz, mainly in the old town.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Old Town is for sure the best part to visit. Old buildings, the Cathedral, la Caleta...
