My American family's 25th anniversary
I am pretty sure that all of this will sound like a movie to you, but here it comes. On Sunday my American parents celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary and they hosted a party at the house, so they had to get everything ready in advance.
"Cake" over
On the previous Friday, I shoveled the driveway with my American brother and since we were there we also did our neighbor's driveway. But it was basically a waste of time because during the night it snowed again so I had to shovel it once again the next morning. On Saturday my American dad went to Denver to pick up their cake which they ordered for a lot of people. It took him two hours to go and two hours to come back because it was snowing and it was dangerous to drive too fast. Once he got back he parked and tried to take the cake out of the car but it was too heavy so he dropped it and it fell upside down. He hurried and picked it up immediately but it fell... once again! No way.
I was inside with my American mother and we were all talking when he came in and said "Hey, I dropped the cake. This is frosty on my hands". My American mom did not take him seriously at all, she, in fact, said "Oh c'mon it can not be, that is snow! ". We all know that unfortunately, that was not the truth. Everyone started panicking because the day after they were going to have something like seventy people over and they now did not have enough cake. They immediately called the pastry shop and asked for more cake. They, of course, could not prepare a huge one so my American dad went back and bought a few small ones. It was just so funny because they have prepared a huge tray to put the cake on, but now there were more cakes and they were all small so it was so weird to see a tiny cake in a giant tray.
Anyways the celebration was great, a lot of people came to the house, we had carrot cake for the next two weeks and everyone had fun. The day started with mass at church and then ended with the party at the house. In the afternoon my American brother and I went to his room to play some Call Of Duty.
They say things happen for a reason. The destruction of the cake made the day even more memorable!
That day was also important to me because it marked three months that I have been to the United States.
