6 similar things between Italy and Peru
Hello everybody! I hope that you are very well. Let me tell you, recently I have been thinking about the similarities between Italy, where I have been living for the past six months, and Peru, where I have lived my entire life. So, these following things are what I thought about: Let's see what you think!
! Let's start with the preface of both the national flags having red and white, although Italy has an additional colour of green.
1. The food in both Peru and Italy is very tasty, both nationalities have a desirable gastronomy:
For those of you who don't know my country, let me tell you that Lima has won the award for the best culinary destination in the world, four years in a row! We as Peruvians are very proud of our huge variety of food, in Lima we can find restaurants with influences from all over the world. For example, Creole restaurants, Chinese, chicken shops, regional restaurants, Japanese, Cheviche restaurants, kebab shops, food from the mountains and northern food. You can eat well in every part of Peru, not only in Lima.
I have also found a great variety of food in Italy as well; which is maybe why it is recognised so internationally. Who doesn't know what pizza tastes like? Or lasagne? Or Parmesan cheese? As well as the desserts, it goes without saying, and the tasty ice cream. Italy is a gastronomic paradise and in reality, I didn't have any kind of problem adapting to this delicious cuisine. Here, for example, where I live there is an abundance of piadinas, cheeses and ravioli. In this part of Italy they eat wonderfully and they never run out of all the options that you can find in an Italian restaurant, a great feast to satiate our hunger.
2. The Spanish and Italian languages both have Latin in common:
This is probably known by everyone, the famous Romance languages like Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and French all come from Latin, which is marvellous. In my case, it wasn't very difficult for me to learn the language, unlike wanting to learn another, like German for example. Furthermore, as we speak a derivative of Spanish from a colony of the Spanish crown, we have this family tree in common. Although, of course there are other languages in both countries as well, even solely within Peruvian jungle you can find a good amount - sadly, most of which are in the process of disappearing due to the "modernity" that is arriving to these areas of Peru. Not to mention Quechua, one of the original Andean languages of Peru.
3. Both Italy and Peru were countries where there was Spanish presence
Peru was a colony of Spain for almost three centuries, while the south of Italy was also invaded by Spain for a period of time in history. Both nations have shared Spanish presence within their territories.
4. While Italy has Rome, Peru has Cusco.
Both nations have the privilege of having two of the most beautiful places in the world created by man. While Italy has Rome, Peru has Cusco, one of the main archaeological destinations of the region, and even in America.
On the other hand, I'm sure that even though I don't know Peru, but I know Cusco and Machu Pichu, of course, the main tourist destination of my country. I want to be able to go to Rome soon and walk through its streets and see the wonders that can be found inside its monuments.
5. Loreto in Peru, Loreto in Italy
This is maybe known by many Peruvians: while the Peruvian jungle has a region named Loreto, Italy also has a city named Loreto! What a coincidence, the same name! Although, both are completely different locations.
Let me tell you, in the year 2012, Peru launched its campaign called "Loreto Italy" by the Peru Brand, leading people into the Italian area of the Peruvian jungle in order to encourage tourism and promote the Peru Brand. If you don't know the area, I invite you to watch the following video where you can see the meeting of the two cultures:
6. Right, the last one is like a bonus track... It is that I have lived as much in Peru as I have in Italy. Both are very bureaucratic.
Taking out papers in Peru and Italy is very complicated in my opinion, so just remember that my residence permit gives me a headache. Or, when there are elections in Peru and you have to join that blessed queue and travel for so long... In short, there are so many examples that it would never end.
However, both countries are marvellous and have their own special style and touch.
I hope that you enjoyed this composition! And I hope that it has encouraged you to explore Peru as well as Italy so that you can know that both countries eat their own delicious panettone!
