Travel from Wroclaw
Hello!
Sorry for neglecting you a bit recently, but the final strait of my semester is becoming, as it were, unbearable.
Today I want to talk to you about how you can travel through Europe from Wroclaw.
Firstly, travelling through the centre of Europe is cheap, VERY cheap! Especially from Poland, which is cheap as it is. Throughout my Erasmus, I have travelled to many cities, the majority of which were incredible and it is undoubtedly the best thing you could do.
Save, save and travel! Then travel some more...
From Wroclaw you have four main connecting routes to the rest of Europe: aeroplane (Ryanair), train, bus (Polskibus, I have spoken about it in previous articles) and Blablacar.
There are various destinations that you can choose from. I am going to tell you about all the different cities that I visited throughout my incredible 9 months of Erasmus.
- Trip 1. Krakow
My trip to Krakow was spectacular. After having organised it in a rush and spontaneously, it all went perfectly. To get to Krakow, you have the option to get a Blablacar as there are dozens of them everyday, or a train or bus. I would recommend the Polskibus, which is what we took.
You need to keep an eye out because, as there are already cheap prices, there are some times when a trip to Krakow, on this mode of transport, can cost you only one euro. There are offers by the company, so watch out.
We didn't have this luck, but oh well, the trip only cost us about 6 or 7 euros for a return ticket (28 zlotys, more or less).
Here I have linked the web page for the company: http://www.polskibus.com/pl/index.htm
We caught the bus from the Wroclaw Bus Station and it dropped us off in the Krakow Bus Station, and then the same for the return. Both stations are in the centre of the two towns, so you simply have to walk, or catch the tram, to get to them.
The Wroclaw Bus Station. When I left Wroclaw, they were under construction and they moved the bus stop, but I suppose they have finished by now.
The Krakow Bus Station.
- Trip 2. Paris
Paris, the city of love! This was my second destination...
This city is expensive, VERY expensive. However, I had the luck of having a friend called Inés who was living there at the time, and we spend a couple of perfect days there. Like Wroclaw, they have direct flights to Paris with Ryanair. The flights are cheap, but in order to get out of the airport to the centre of town, you need to catch a bus that costs 35 euros for a return ticket, if I remember correctly.
Here is the web page where I bought the bus tickets that brought me to the centre of the city of Paris: http://tickets.aeroportbeauvais.com/Information.aspx
If you want to save money in this city, you need to visit with the idea of a backpacker in mind... What do I mean by this? You'll have to buy zero commodities and eat sandwiches every day!
- Trip 3. Prague
This place is not just recommended, it is NECESSARY! One of the most beautiful cities that I have ever been to...
Here is where I tell you how useful it is for my life in Wroclaw to have access to the Polskibus. Wroclaw-Prague, Prague-Wroclaw in the Polskibus is a 4/5 hour journey if I remember correctly, and it costs only 12 euro, give or take.
The same happened in Berlin. Although I didn't have time to go to this city, the cheapest and quickest option was to go with Polskibus. Don't forget to look it up and check out the prices, my friends went there and they loved it!
- Trip 4. Dresden
Dresden is a small German city that has one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the whole of Europe. ESN (Erasmus Student Network) organised for us to go there. I don't remember how much it cost but I think it was about 15 euros for a return ticket.
- Trip 5. Stockholm
My birthday present to myself was to visit Stockholm and it is one of the most beautiful cities in all the world.
From Wroclaw there are flights ranging from going to Oslo, to Stockholm, with dirt-cheap prices. That being said, the cost of living in these places is very expensive. Therefore, before you go crazy buying cheap flights, look at the hostels and their pricing. Don't let the joke get too expensive for you.
Like it was in Paris, to get to the centre of Stockholm you had to catch a bus from the airport. In our case, we didn't buy the tickets online so I cannot give you the website link.
- Trip 6. Rome
Easy. Wroclaw - Rome on Ryanair. So cheap and so quick.
If you have the opportunity of going and you have never been before, don't doubt it for a second. It is incredible.
In my case, I made the trip with my family and I loved the four days we spent there. Rome is another world.
- Trip 7. Katowice - Bratislava - Vienna
On this occasion we organised this trip to go and see our friend Misha. The journey was a little more complicated than the others, but oh well. It was very good.
First things first, we caught the Polskibus to go to Katowice, where we spent one night. After that night, we caught another bus that brought us to Bratislava. Once there, seeing how close we were, we inevitably bought another bus to go to Vienna, where we spent one of the days. INCREDIBLE.
The whole journey, I'm not sure how much it was exactly, but if I am not mistaken, it was no more than 60 euros for the transport only.
- Trip 8. Gdańsk
This city in Northern Poland is incredibly beautiful.
To get here, you have two options: the Polskibus, or if I remember correctly, a flight making a stopover in Warsaw. We decided that, due to the difference in price and the small difference in time, we got the overnight bus.
I hope that you enjoyed this post and it helped you a little to organise the trips you want to make! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
And remember, don't forget to have fun!
