Hello guys, hope you are all doing well. India is a place where treating patients was done even before the great Hippocrates. The manuscripts written by Shushrutha who was a genius in the field of medicine still amazes the present day doctors. Surgery was practiced in India during the period of Sushrutha. A country with such a remarkable history will definitely have an impact on people lifestyle. Even today in India visiting doctors for ordinary health concerns is really rare as our ancestors have left some valuable treatment methods using our own food we eat. Even the great Hippocrates has said "Let your food be medicine and your medicine be food". Today here in my article I want to share with you some interesting and amazing methods to treat simple health issues. According to Hippocrates's first principle "Primum non nocere" which means first of all do not harm, these methods even if it doesn't give you any benefits it would never cause harm. These methods when followed properly will definitely improve your health conditions. So let's begin.

1. Constipation

  • If you drink a full glass of warm milk or water before going to bed will help you in easy defecation next morning;
  • Lemon juice mixed with water 2 to 3 times a day will help you in relieving constipation;
  • Soak raisins in water overnight and eat the raisins next morning on an empty stomach. Also you must drink the water in which the raisins were soaked;
  • Drinking water early morning on an empty stomach which has been kept in a copper vessel overnight will give you immediate relief from constipation;
  • Drink half glass of water mixed with quarter teaspoon of epsom salt which helps in relieving constipation;
  • Eating Guvava early morning in empty stomach has a prolonged effect over constipation.

2. Pimples

  • Powder some orange peels and mix it with water. This is an effective home treatment for curing pimples. Apply the paste over the affected areas. Leave it to dry and then wash it off. You will visualize the result in overtime;
  • Applying grated cucumber on the neck, face and eye will also help you in curing pimples;
  • Applying chick pea flour and fenugreek seed can reduce the level of pimples in skin. To prepare this take two teaspoons of chickpea flour, 2 teaspoons of fenugreek seed mix it well and apply it on face;
  • Take a piece of turmeric, a piece of sandalwood, a piece of chunky and grind them well. Apply the mixture on face. This can reduce pimples;
  • Mix water and dried ginger powder, apply it on the pimples regularly this can reduce pimples on your face;
  • Grind few leaves of Basil with camphor. Apply it on your face to reduce pimples.
  • Boil black pepper, garlic, abutilon leaves and castor oil then apply it on face. This can also reduce pimples on your face.

3. Cough & chest congestion

  • Boil three cups of water with two fresh betel leaves and 4 crushed peppers. Continue boiling till the water gets reduced to half. Filter the water and drink the concentrated water every morning and night with a teaspoon of honey to get relief.

4. Bad breath

  • Rather than just chewing a gum for bad breath which can lead you to oral cancer you can try this alternative. If you feel that you have bad breath just munch a small piece of celery that can give you an instant freshness.

5. Arthritis

  • Wash and clean a potato such that it is free from mud. Do not peel it but cut it into small pieces. Place the pieces of unpeeled potatoes in a bowl containing cold water. Leave it overnight and drink the water next morning in an empty stomach. This can give you the best relief from arthritis.

6. Common cold

  • Take two and half teaspoons of asafoetida and mix it with hot water. This can cure common cold;
  • Grind the leaves of adathoda, vasica, betel leaves, basil leaves, solanum trilobatum. Boil them in water. Take two spoons of boiled leaves and mix it with a teaspoon of honey. Eat it one time for every three days;
  • Take a piece of dry ginger and boil it with milk. Add some sugar for taste and drink it. This will cure running nose;
  • Drinking sugarless dark coffee regularly can cure common cold;
  • Eating pomegranate regularly can minimize your chances in catching cold;
  • Squeeze a lemon in a glass of luke warm water mix it with one or two teaspoons of honey. Drinking this once or twice a day will relieve you from common cold. Lemon contains Vitamin C which has the capacity to increase the body's immune system and decreases body's toxicity;

There are also some extraordinary properties for this common fruit. some of which I have mentioned below:

  • Headache curative
  • Cures constipation
  • Cures sore throat
  • Stops nausea and vomiting
  • Prevents tonsillitis
  • Can reduce toxicity
  • Cures jaundice
  • Anti inflammatory
  • Prevents gas accumulation in the body
  • Good appetizer
  • Helps in treating Elephants foot disease or filariasis

7. Body Weight

  • Consuming a lot of vegetables will keep your body fit;
  • Do not consume too much of junk food or fried food;
  • Do not skip your breakfast;
  • Try to know the amount of calories you need per day and the calories that you consume. Try to maintain a balance between both intake and expenditure;
  • Try to have your food in time and go to bed in time both has an important impact on body weight;
  • If you don't have any regular physical activity try going for a walk at least for an hour;
  • Adding onions to your food can help you reducing your body weight as onions have much less fat content;
  • Honey can also reduce your body weight for a good extent.

8. Plaques

  • Munching few young leaflets of neem can relieve you from this problem.

9. Hemoglobin

  • Shoe flower or hibiscus, milk and sugar can help in reducing anemia. Add some hibiscus flowers to a cup of boiled milk and a teaspoon of sugar. Filter the milk and drink it regularly;
  • Saffron with honey is an efficient blood cleanser. Mix half teaspoon of saffron with one teaspoon of honey and eat it. This can reduce your blood stain due to smoking;
  • To 200 grams of cut beetroot pieces add one teaspoon of cumin powder, one teaspoon of black pepper powder and salt to taste. Mix all these with two glasses of water and boil it for 10 minutes. Filter the water and then drink it. This can clean your blood;
  • There are also some other vegetables that can be helpful in maintaining a good hemoglobin count. Such vegetables are drumstick, carrot, small onions, beans, snake gourd or bitter gourd;
  • Curd can prevent the clotting of blood within blood vessels. Therefore consuming two teaspoons of curd can be good to health;
  • Garlic has a profound effect on hypertension. Add few cloves of garlic to milk and boil it. Add honey to it and drink this can cure pressure related problems.

10. Throat Pain

  • Boil some black pepper leaves with water. Filter the water and drink it;
  • Eating cumin with sugar candy can cure sinus problems. To prepare this fry three teaspoon of cumin and grind it to make a powder. Mix the cumin powder with sugar candy. That is it eat it twice a day for best results;
  • Boiling lemon leaves in water and goggling your mouth can reduce throat pain;
  • Mix cucumber leaves with dried cumin powder and honey. Eat it once a day to reduce throat pain.

11. Dysmenorrhea

  • Take 300 grams of velvet bean seed and boil it with a liter of milk till the milk becomes dry. Powder this mixture and fry it slightly in ghee. Add some molasses and make small balls. Consume one ball two times a day. This can relieve you!
  • Boil Plantain flowers, pepper, poppy seeds and turmeric in water. Drinking it regularly can stimulate the production of new blood cells and can improve menstrual problems in women.

12. Stomach Pain

  • Pineapple is a rich source of manganese and vitamin c which can aid in digestion. Take a cup of pineapple juice and heat it for five minutes. Allow it to cool down for few minutes then drink it.

13. The skin

  • To remove sun tans take some curd mix it with some honey. Apply this in the tanned areas in your body for at least 15 days. This can help you in removing sun tans;
  • Grind tomato and papaya together. Mix it well with Bengal gram flour. Apply it on the tanned areas in your body and leave it for 15 minutes;
  • Take a thick paste of potato and add some lemon juice to it. Apply it on the affected areas. Leave it to dry for about 25 to 30 minutes then wash it off. Repeat this twice a week;
  • Rub a lemon slice on the affected skin before taking bath. Let this be in your skin for 30 minutes. Lemon is one of the best substance that can effectively remove tan. After 30 minutes bath normally. Lemon can also be used as a bleach for treating ankle darkness, neck darkness, elbow darkness etc;
  • Applying curd daily on your skin can make your skin soft and reduce darkness. Curd is an excellent natural bleach and a cleanser;
  • Crush some tomatoes and make a juice of it. Apply it on your face and leave it for 15 minutes. Repeat this three times a week to reduce sun tan;
  • Mix powdered almonds, oat meal, plain yogurt, milk and allow it to soak for few minutes. When they are well soaked and properly mixed apply it on your face. Doing this twice a week can increase your skin complexion;
  • Aloe Vera is a good element for curing sun tans. Apply Aloe Vera before going to bed. It can also be used to cure prickly heat;
  • Take the outer layer of cabbage and make it into a juice. Mix a teaspoon of honey with it and apply it on sun tanned areas. Doing this regularly will help you in removing sun tans. This can also help to brighten your skin;
  • Mix ground flax seed oil and small amount of honey. Apply it on moles daily this can help you in removing moles;
  • Applying fresh pineapple juice a number of times over the moles can help removing them;
  • Applying juice of fig stems and leave it for sometime. This can help in hair removal in unwanted areas;
  • Boil one cup of coconut oil with few betel leaves this can help in the curing of skin diseases.
  • Applying coconut water over the chicken pox scars can help in removing them permanently.
  • Applying banana stalk juice can help in curing burnt sole problems.
  • Mix little water with sandalwood and apply it on your body. This can reduce your body heat and refresh you.

14. Lips

  • For those people who can't bear extreme cold or hot, mix butter and orange juice and apply it on your lips. This can minimize cracks in lips and strengthen it to protect it from extreme temperatures.

15. Burns

  • If you accidentally spill hot oil on your body during cooking then immediately apply little honey or crystal salt. This can prevent blister formations.

16. Eyes

  • Wash your eyes with cold water at least three times a day to keep them fresh;
  • Applying eggwhite on your head and taking bath is good for your eyes.

17. Hair

  • Cook around 6 or 7 gooseberry's and a glass of coconut oil. Filter the content and apply it on your hair. This can strengthen your hair and make it more black;
  • Take two carrots and a half glass of lemon juice. Mix them and boil it with coconut oil. Filter it and apply it on your hair before bathing. This will nourish your hair and make it stronger;
  • Applying jujube juice in your hair before bathing can increase hair growth;
  • Soak some fenugreek over night. Eat them along with curd in the morning on an empty stomach. This will increase your hair growth;
  • Grind hibiscus or shoe flower and mix the powder with gingelly oil. Apply it on your hair and leave it for an hour. This will increase your hair color and make it much thicker.

I guess that these above mentioned tips will come handy for you at least once in your lifetime. These are not medicines but just ordinary food that you consume in your regular diet. When these common food items are taken in appropriate quantity during appropriate time can cure you and prevent you from many diseases.
