Tartu

Tartu is the second largest city of Estonia, and it is, also, considered as the intelectual city of the country because there are historical and new universities in there.

If you decide to visit this city you must have a walk in the main square, you should visit some of the universities and you could cross across the city´s bridges.

In summer, it is pleasant to sit down in the gardens and to drink a coffee in any of the bars of Raekoja Plats(the city hall´s square), however, in winter you can enjoy the sight of a snowed Tartu while you walk and play with the snow.

We used to go to visit our Erasmus friends in Tartu. I must recognized that even though the city is crowded during the week, it can be a bit empty during the weekend when most of the students come back home.

During the Erasmus time we travelled three times there, and each one was very different from the other. But, the memories I have from the city are very nice; we could enjoy an Erasmus party, we could go to a disco, we stayed home preparing some crepes and other food…

Going from Tallinn to Tartu is very simple. The are many buses that leave every so often from Autobussijaam (Tallinn Central Bus Station) to Tartu, so you can make a more-than-one-night trip or you can just go to have a nice time (one night or one day) in the university city.

So, I recomend you to visit it and have a nice time with its people and walking around the city.
