Beach time!!!

Summer time in Tallinn is pleasant, sunny and mild. It is possible to enjoy the big amount of solar hours and the good weather while doing different activities such as walking, riding a bike or going to the beach.

Yes, there are beaches in Estonia!! And really nice ones!!.

We used to go to Pirita´s beach after our Estonian language´s lesson. It was always full of people playing voleyball, sun bathing or group of friends chatting between them.

To arrive to Pirita we usually took the bus. It was not a long trip until the bus reached the beach, and it seemed shorter when all of us went together talking and laughing.

Finding a place to lay down in Pirita´s beach was not as simple as it seemed, even though we used to go in the afternoon. We enjoyed chatting and drinking some “Saku”´s beers there. However, only few of us (usually the boys) were brave enough to go into the sea.

As the temperatute was pleasant during the month of August, we could stay on the sand enjoying the “warm-not so warm as the south of Europe´s summer- weather” and waiting until the sunset to go home.

But Pirita is not the only beach in Estonia. For example, Parnu is known as the estonians´ summer residence and it is possible to find many historical monuments and castles there also. On the other hand we can also enjoy “Vosu”, “Kaberneeme” (in the north of the country) or “Kabli”, “Vargeranna” (in the south-east of Estonia), as we did when we went to have a pic-nic on the beach.

Nevertheless, estonia´s weather sometimes can be unpredictable and our pic-nic day turned into a rainy day, but not without having eaten crepes and having played on the swings of that beach first. I should recognize that it was an unexpected and funny ending for that day.

To sum up, I come from a warmer country than Estonia but I enjoyed spending the month of August in Tallinn. The nice weather and beaches helped us to get the most of our summer days there.
