Surely, you have heard about the crazy Erasmus parties. But to be honest, it isn’t all about having fun, travelling around, and meeting new people. We also went to classes on hot summer days, drank liters of coffee to survive the endless morning speeches after the long nights of cultural sightseeing, and took some nightshifts to finalize our masterpieces. Depending on the study program you either have some spare time or you will be totally busy with your uni projects, like in architecture and medicine.

As you can see, we did work hard but we never forgot to reward ourselves, like the first night in Oviedo.

Let’s have a look at what happened with the Cidre session the morning after the Neon Party.

Breakfast time

Sitting at the breakfast table with Jimmy, Jonny and Jack. Two people each shared a room, so did Jimmy and Jonny. Jack shared a room with another ESN student. We talked about the last night, and Jonny could only remember a few things, mainly the free Cidre, and that he had lost his wallet. Fortunately, Jack sat at the same table and told us about a black wallet that he had found on a stairway, which turned out to be Jonny’s wallet. But how did the wallet fall on that stairway which was quite far away from the room of Jimmy and Jonny? All we knew was that two ESN girls helped Jonny, still in a funny mood, from the party to the hotel lobby and left him, not knowing where his room was but that he was at a safe place, at 2:30 a.m. Between that time until breakfast time, nobody knew what Jonny exactly did, but Jimmy could tell to have heard noises in the hallway some when. In the end, Jonny must have found his room, made it safely in his own bed, thanks to the key he still had in his pocket, and was nothing else but tired. What an adventure! Since that night, Jonny can’t smell or even see Cidre again.

Gijón

That day we went to Gijón which is 30km North from Oviedo at the coast and is an important port in Spain. Walking through the streets, you see many different sculptures. We all went up to the hill close to the ocean and stood under the Praise of the Horizon (Eligio del Horizonte). Standing in the center of it, makes you hear the ocean more intensively.

Gala

Back at the hotel in Oviedo, we changed our clothes. Even the guys brought their suits for this event. All Erasmus students around Oviedo dressed up and joined the ESN gala, which took place in Palacio de Congresos Princesa Letizia where exhibitions and congresses are usually held.

When we arrived a table was waiting with tapas just for us. It was a good time to get to know the other ESN students and enjoy some dance shows that were performed spontaneously as soon as one could hear the song Gangnam Style.

Right after that we went to the city and danced at Salsipuedes.

The next morning we needed to get ready for Madrid. On the way we had a short snack stop in Valladolid and arrived in Madrid at night.
