50 nations were gathering at one place in Oviedo having only one mission. The streets were full of students, camera teams and snack stands but let’s start from the beginning.

Meeting point at 09:00 a.m. in Villanueva

Half sleep walking, because I had just arrived from Madrid after dancing the whole night with the people from Madridance, to Lycee Moliere a French high school. The bus driver was already waiting but I was not the last one. The coordinators checked whether everyone was there and soon we headed off to Madrid city center to pick up the other ESN students. Most of us were still tired because 09:00 a.m. was quite early or some came from the party before. “What a life!” would you say. I say, “Yes, you can.” Therefore almost everyone fell asleep as soon as the trip really started.

Sergio, who was awake, was responsible for the entertainment and put the party music on. But even that didn’t bother us because we were sleeping very deeply that even a firework wouldn’t have waken us up.

During the trip to Oviedo, we watched a movie and then played Bingo with everyone. Numbers were announced in Spanish, of course. The first person, who filled one row, would get a magic shot (chupito). Surprisingly, this happened to one girl two times, which was a good starter for the Neon party that night. The winner of the first round got a Madrid cup and in the second round a black ESN T-shirt.

11:30 a.m. break

The coordinators provided us with drinks and snacks. After that we went further to...

LEÓN

Is a city of about 140 thousand inhabitants located in the northwest of Spain. It is one of the World Heritages awarded by UNESCO, and part of the Silver Route and the Way of Saint James. Watch out for the seashells on the floor or walls

that use to lead pilgrims to their final destination the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.

Although it was a cloudy day, we walked through the city to the gothic Cathedral “La Pulchra Leonina” (The House of Light).

07:00 p.m. Oviedo

We arrived at our four star hotel, got an ESN bag, checked in, and needed to leave with our ESN cup, which was in the bag, to the city not far from our hotel. The street was crowded with a lot of ESN students from all over the world. Before we went further to the main stage, we registered ourselves, which was important for the world record.

Hold on for a minute to listen to the song “Asturias, patria queridahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ecbE7nSlpw. Now imagine a Guinness World Record consisting of ESN students from 50 different nations singing the anthem of the community of Asturias, Spain. Only one nation was obviously missing, the Dutch. Unfortunately, the only Dutch ESN student of our group couldn’t join the trip but after a few minutes another nationality was registered. Since our arrival, the song was practiced with a lead singer and a live band having bagpipe players. And then it was time. After a short introduction, we sang the song five times and got faster and faster until everyone was jumping in the air. The following video shows what happened in Oviedo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcplCVZKeJc.

That was a special experience. Having succeeded our mission, we bought Montaditos (small baguette snacks with meat, vegetables or egg etc.) for a Euro each. And finally it was time for the ESN cup to fill it with Cidre for free provided by our host coordinator.

The last event for the night was the Neon Party where the faces were painted in different neon colors.

Cidre... Story for the next morning.

Until then. Hasta pronto muchachos!!
