How I chose the Mobile Company in Belgium
A few months ago I arrived in Brussels. As I did not know how much time was going to stop around here, I looked for a telephone company that would offer me good connection, no kind of permanence and affordable prices for my pocket (I came as a student, but in the end I was left working as a freelancer). I found it in Mobile Vikings.
In Spain we have the big ones like Movistar, Vodafone or Orange. But we all know that there are other smaller companies that offer more competitive prices: Yoigo, Pepephone, Simyo... I explain my experience so that you can choose the telephone rate that can be adjusted to what you need, regardless of whether you have a telephone that only serves for calls or if you have a smartphone.
At first, guided by information I found in forums and by the explanations of some friends who had done Erasmus here (Brussels), I opted for Proximus. Seeing that my friends were using Spain Yoigo and Pepephone, relatively cheap companies that I had used at the time, I let myself be guided too much by their knowledge of the country, Belgium, and I ended up paying the duck. For € 15 a month, I had 90 minutes for calls, unlimited SMS (who sends SMS in 2013? ) And only 250 Mb per month for data. To give you an idea, for my work I have to be aware of email and social networks, so on a journey from home to work I could spend 50 Mb without exaggeration. With what after 5 days could give for dead all kinds of Internet on the iPhone.
I have told everything on this page as long as it can serve as a reference to other students or workers: http://elegircompaniatelefonica.com In it I detail why I did not stay with Proximus, what pushed me back to continue with Base and why I ended up with Mobile Vikings (which is my current company, and with which I have been around for 8 months).
At the end of the website I have included a guide on how to get hold of Mobile Vikings. I add a small catch here so you can see what it is about:
In case I can help you out or if you have any doubts when choosing a telephone company in Belgium, write me in the comments :)
See you in Brussels!
