What is it like to live in Aveiro? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I really like it! It's a small town but there's plenty of things to do, everyone's so friendly. It's very green and overall peaceful, at least during the day!

I totally recommend it!

What is the student lifestyle like in Aveiro?

It's perfect! The University is very up to date and proactive, the students are really friendly and helpful, there's a lot of different cultures. And you have places to go at night that are awesome.

How much does it cost to live in Aveiro?

It's not very expensive, in average you pay 150 euros for a room with expenses. So I guess overall, you will be spending 300 euros a month!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Aveiro? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not difficult at all! in practically every wall of the university there are flyers about room offers.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Aveiro is known for "ovos moles", you have to eat it! In terms of gastronomy we don't have special dishes, it's more about tipical portuguese ones. My favorite is "Bacalhau com natas" and "Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá".

What places would you recommend visiting in Aveiro?

The Santa Joana Museum, the parks, the beaches, the clubs.

Is it good to eat out in Aveiro? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes! In Aveiro you have lot's a places to eat! The best for hamburgers and french fries, I think, is Ramona! You also have Mamaroma which is an italian restaurant, and Pizzarte which is this familiar restaurant with pastas pizzas salads, etc. Also you have a mall here with a dinning zone.

Is the nightlife good in Aveiro? Where is good to go?

Eventhough Aveiro is a small city, its nightlife is fantastic! The place to go is Praça, is a place full of bars and clubs, everyone gathers there. And because is near the river, it's a beautiful place. In Praça you have bars with different environments, music and people, you just have to choose! One exemple is the cultural association "Mercado Negro" (Black Market) which is somewhat different: it has this lounge and soothing environment but at the same time is very vintage. I love it there.

What advice would you give future students heading to Aveiro?

Don't be afraid to talk to anyone! It's all so easy, you just have to ask! Enjoy our beaches, our wheather and our nightlife.
