What is it like to live in Aveiro? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Aveiro is a relatively small but comfortable and modern city.

People are very welcoming and it has everything anyone could need or ask for very nearby.

It has the best university in the country and one of the best in the world. It has many awesome sandy beaches.

The services are good although the transportation is not very extensive. But then again, most things are within walking distance.

Aveiro is not the place you go to as a tourist. It is, however, one of the best places to live in. Is a place you will call home because, honestly, it offers everything you need.

What is the student lifestyle like in Aveiro?

Student lifestyle is great.

The university is relatively small but the best in the country.

Nightlife is not too strong but every student enjoys himself/herself at least once per week.

How much does it cost to live in Aveiro?

For students, I would say they can get a room for 250 €. Overall, I would say a student can live well with 500/600 € per month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Aveiro? Is there any advice you can give?

I'm sure you can find offers through the internet. However, most people come to visit the university and try to find a room in person while in here. Everything is close by. That's what I would recommend as well.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

As the city is by the ocean, seafood will probably be stronger than everything else. I would go with the cod-based ("bacalhau") dishes, grilled, fried, and on and on... You will probably love them all!

As for pastries, you have to try the "Ovos moles" and "Pasteís de nata".

What places would you recommend visiting in Aveiro?

I'm biased. But I would go with the beaches, from Barra, Costa Nova, Vagueira, Labrego and so on, you have many to choose from. You can run, cycle, swim, surf, eat and enjoy a beer at sunset. Perfect plan.
