Little Venice of Portugal
Aveiro is a student city one hour far by train from Porto. This might be one of the reasons why I visited it twice. Let’s see…
What’s that, right?!
It took only a couple of minutes of walking towards the city center from the railway station to see something weird… It was a feet statue.
Later on, during the sightseeing, I found out that it is dedicated to the football championship, Euro04, that took place in Portugal. There are more of them around the city.
Everything is about #mar (sea) here
The tiles are everywhere!
I just love how the blue combined with white tiles make me think about sea, sky and peace.
Ovos moles de Aveiro – in reality and in sculpture
This dessert (‘soft eggs’ would be the English translation) is a typical pastry of the city and it goes perfectly with a boat trip on the river.
Curious about the depth of the channel?
Probably not, but I was hahaha.
The sailor of the moliceiro (this kind of boat) answered: fifty centimeters… I understood fifteen meters because I couldn’t believe that you can have boat trips on a river of that size.
Museum of Aveiro (Museu de Aveiro - Santa Joana)
It is a great place worth paying a visit (great place for making memes haha)! Don’t miss The Cathedral of Aveiro (Sé Catedral de Aveiro), which is nearby!
The next creepy room has no roof, but a 17th century fountain... The obelisk represents God, the sphere, Christ and the four beaks symbolise the four Evangelists that spread the word of God.
You saw the view from this bridge during the night and here it is during the day
This way you can admire the seductive, colourful buildings!
Please don’t hesitate to let me know what you think about my articles! Thank you!
