Well, here is how I discovered Athens it's my second home....

All started with my Erasmus at the University of Piraeus, Greece, last year for the spring semester. I escaped from the cold weather from my country in the warmy and sunny Greece in the  middle of February. It was love at first sight, in the Port of Piraeus with a great view to the sea and exposition of fancy boats. Not saying how fascinating the palms were staying aligned one by one near the coffee places- the perfect picture!

University of Piraeus is really nice located  near the port of Pasalimani and the center with many shops and cafes. The greeks welcomed me so warmly and I had very kind and flexible teachers so for that I had time to explore the beauty Athens and some of the gorgeous islands.

When I was in Athens, I was amazed by how many tourists are coming to visit there and the souvenir places in Monastiraki full of people from all over the world. The view to the Acropolis was so cool especially from the rocks called Vrahakia, best panoramic view to Acropolis and all city. A lot of places to see: Lycabettus Hill, National Gardens, The Parliament. I was amazed by the architecture and the history of this town.

The food is amazing and there are a lof of plates I haven't tried cause I might be picky about food  but all who have been there know that Gyro or Souvlaki is one of the best junk food to try, delicious .Greek yogurt, what can I say? It's a gulity pleasure!  About the drinks , in my oppinion, Rakomelo it's better than Ouzo. With this last I had a bad experience and I don't wanna ever repeat it. This is another story! :D

Let's get back to the fabulous Athens.... What makes it special for me is that has the sea, the mountains and the green landscape all together, of course with the palms along, because i have a passion for these trees. I like the greek traditions, here I talk about the music, dance, and their pascal holidays. Maybe I feel so connected with greek culture because I am also Christian.

Another reason why Athens fascinates me - the islands! Santorini, Spetses, Hydra, Poros. Heaven on Earth! I Spectacular beaches, architecture of the houses and the pedestrian tiny streets, donkeys, pure nature and car prohibited. What else can u ask for? Greeks are lucky to live in such a wonderful country!

All these things make me promise myself that every year, especially in summer season  I have to return back, because it calls me on and on - my second home!

Filakia! Yasou!
