My Erasmus Experience in Athens, Greece, by Delphine
Why did you choose to go to Athens, Greece?
To do an internship in a a French language school.
How much time did you spend there? How much help did you receive?
From October to December.
How was the food in Greece?
Very good! Lots of variety and the prices were quite reasonable.
Was it hard to find accommodation in Athens?
Not really, with Airbnb it's quite easy. You just have to learn about the different areas first as the cost of accommodation can vary depending on the place.
Whats the cost of living in Athens?
It depends on which area you live in, as grocery shopping and eating out are not that expensive.
What's the most economical way to get to Athens from your hometown?
From Toulouse, an airplane.
What areas would you recommend for nights out in Athens?
It depends on the type of music, some small bars play Greek music till morning.
And for eating out in Athens? What are your favorite places?
The small restaurants in the Plaka, or Monasteraki neighborhoods or even Psiri. I would advise that you take your time to find small traditional restaurants rather than going to more touristic ones.
And what cultural sites do you recommend visiting?
The Acropolis and it's museum or just simply going for a walk through the different neighborhoods. For the other cultural sites, you often have to leave Athens and go a bit father out for places like Peloponnese, Cape Sounion or the Islands.
Any advice for future students going to Athens?
It's great, both in the day and at night. Visiting the museums or the Acropolis are practically free when you're a student or very cheap.
