What is it like to live in Athens? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a very lively and impressive city that is recommendable for shorter stay and frequently visiting.

What is the student lifestyle like in Athens?

There are many cafe's for young people, and the young people participate in renovation and contribution to new culture.

How much does it cost to live in Athens?

It is not more expensive than in other parts of Greece, of course it is more expensive in places where many tourist are visiting.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Athens? Is there any advice you can give?

It seems to be easy to find on internet. I found it on Erasmus. com.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I like the small typical and traditional dishes you mainly find on small taverns.

What places would you recommend visiting in Athens?

The big parks, the long street Ermou you follow from Syntagma see the popular flee market, Monastiraki and Psyrri is an cosy corner mainly for younger people.
Take the tram to the south and walk along the beach or walk along the broad street Eoliou that is only for pedestrian in the beginning from the center to the Archaeological museum and historical places from the student uprising in the seventies.

Is it good to eat out in Athens? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes it is good and it is plenty of it.
My favorite spot is a very small Indian pitagyros -place at the street Zinonos in the Metaxourgiou area.

Is the nightlife good in Athens? Where is good to go?

Nightlife there is because greek people are out the whole night.
I prefer a small tavern at Ermou in the end of the flee-market where they have live music.

What advice would you give future students heading to Athens?

Find the places of interest, the historical in Plaka, the important historical landmarks, the Polytechneio what happened there and what is going on in the whole area Exarchia today.
Find the renovation of the original city center Omonia square that are soon inaugurated.
