What is it like to live in Athens? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Athens is definitely one of the busiest metropolis in Europe. The centre associates the modern culture of Greece with the ancient history of the country and the fact that you can drink coffee with Acropolis as the view easily underlines that.
What is the student lifestyle like in Athens?
There are a plethora of things to do as a student! Whatever preferences someone has, Athens can offer it. Clubs, beautiful small "bookish" cafes, gorgeous libraries, museums, sightseeing options, traditional or chic restaurants with live (Latin, Greek, etc. ) music, you'll never get bored.
How much does it cost to live in Athens?
As a student someone can get a discount in almost everything. The only thing that will make someone cringe their teeth is the prices while grocery shopping. Anything else is quite on rational limits.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Athens? Is there any advice you can give?
Not at all. There are plenty of options regarding accommodation in Athens. The rental prices are also quite cheap. Xrisi eukairia offers lots of flats for students.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is beyond delicious. While visiting Athens and generally Greece someone should definitely try the famous pita gyros! There also many tasty options in the confectionery field.
What places would you recommend visiting in Athens?
Plaka, Monastiraki, Syntagma, National Garden, Acropolis, Thiseio, Glyfada(Balux, Nalu cafes by the sea), Sounio, Vouliagmeni Lake, Lykabitos, Kallimarmaro and the list could go on.
Is it good to eat out in Athens? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
For burgers I recommend Hot Hot burger bar and Bar Bee Que in Peiraias and for the Mexican food lovers the restaurant Amigos which also organises latin nights. Greek food you can find in every corner. You'l never feel hungry in Athens.
Is the nightlife good in Athens? Where is good to go?
Someone should visit Gazi in Kerameikos for clubbing, there are many clubs next to each other and Akanthus by the sea in the summer.
What advice would you give future students heading to Athens?
Just have fun and eat a lot!
