What is it like to live in Athens? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Athens is a big city with a lot of places and suburbs that one must explore. I would definetely recommend it for your erasmus experience.
What is the student lifestyle like in Athens?
It is very nice and easy. People here are very helpful and the quality of life is really good.
How much does it cost to live in Athens?
Houses on the suburbs, (where I live), cost about 200-300 euros.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Athens? Is there any advice you can give?
It's not difficult at all. I think that it is better for someone to ask a local for accomodation near his/her university.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Medditerenian food is really healthy and tasty. One can find good quality food everywhere in Athens. Try local food, it's really worth it.
What places would you recommend visiting in Athens?
Except famous places like Acropolis and Syntagma, one should definetely visit places like Piraeus, Glyfada, Zografoy and Kypseli for your coffee.
Is it good to eat out in Athens? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Try local restaurants at the suburbs. Food there is cheaper and dishes are bigger and in a better quality.
Is the nightlife good in Athens? Where is good to go?
Nightlife in Athens is awesome. The best spot for clubs is Gazi.Plenty of Bars on Syntagma are worth a visit. When the weather is fine, try also the Beachbars on Alimos.
What advice would you give future students heading to Athens?
Try to explore the city. Don't stay at home. Try to meet local people who can help you explore the city easier. Feel free and try the Greek way of living.
