What is it like to live in Athens? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It depends on the person interested in going. Since i grew up in Kefalonia an Island in Greece, i don't like big cities and chaos, athens wouldn't be an option for me. Still, i know a lot of people that because of the jobs available there or because of the amount of things to do and discover, they choose to live in Athens! In the end, it's a city full of thing to do, greek mythology and history have left their imprint everywhere! It's an interesting experience but not for more than a couple of years!

What is the student lifestyle like in Athens?

They will have the best time of their lives! Even if it's a big city and they would have to make long distances thare are so many places to go out to, many concerts, theatres, places to hung out, underground bars, squats... Athens it's not an expenssive city and you can always party with alternative ways.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Athens? Is there any advice you can give?

You will find something! Maybe you could live at a hostel or surfe with couchsurfing for somedays before you find a perminent place to stay!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Souvlaki, mousaka, pastitsio, tyropita, gigantes, gemista, various seafood and fish, crepes, pasta and pizza (they won't be like Italy but maybe you will be lucky).... We have a lot of tavernes, restaurants, ouzadika and backery stores!

What places would you recommend visiting in Athens?

Monastiraki, Exarhia, Thysio, Acropoli and so much more....

Is the nightlife good in Athens? Where is good to go?

Iti;s great! You will find different places for different people!

What advice would you give future students heading to Athens?

Don't let the long distances swallow you home! Go out, have fun and discover the beauty of the city!
