What is the student lifestyle like in Athens?

Students are treated respectfully in prices, especially in transportation and some event tickets (theatre and generally culture & museums). Great parties, all kinds of music!

How much does it cost to live in Athens?

It is not ridiculously cheap, but not too expensive. But, if a student is well informed, he can "discover" the cheapest student places and eat/drink spending a few euros.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Athens? Is there any advice you can give?

Accommodation is very easy to find, even by e-search. Little warm places in low prices are spread everywhere in this amazing big city. All you have to do is a research.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Greek traditional food is worth to be tasted. Except for this, you can also find everywhere fast food such as pizza and burgers, but the best and the cheapest -if you don't have time to cook and eat healthy- is the well known Greek souvlaki, easy, quick, cheap and yummy!

What places would you recommend visiting in Athens?

Athens is a big city that gives you choices. Acropolis, Thiseio, Monastiraki, Licabetus are some of the classic places that a traveller/tourist always visits. But, if you want to get a little more underground, you will find out the unknown places by yourself, starting from Exarcheia, the cheapest underground and out-of-the-stream place in Athens center

Is the nightlife good in Athens? Where is good to go?

Rock, pop, greek, electro, house, techno stages everywhere! Just go for a walk in the center (gazi, monastiraki, Exarcheia)

What advice would you give future students heading to Athens?

Just enjoy your staying in this fascinating city! At the begining you may feel like you don't belong somewhere yet, cause Athens is a big and crowded city with many separate neighborhoods, but once you get to know this city and start to really experience it, you will adore it!
