Why did you choose to go to Athens, Greece?

It was an opportunity from my univerzity in Czech to go to Greece so I didn´t hesitate and I took a chance. :-)

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I received scholarship for 4 months. It covered me accommodation in Athens and transportation in Athens. Food was free of charge for Erasmus students in cafeteria.

What is the student lifestyle like in Athens?

Parties and sightseeings.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Athens to other students?

Definetely. But make sure that in Athens strikes make place so so often!!! During the strikes it is really dangerous to walk through the city. You can be even hurt.

What is the food like?

Food was delicious. A lot of vegetables, fish and fruit. My favourite was souvulaki.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Athens?

Of course.

How much does it cost to live in Athens?

For months I paid 350 Euro. It was quite expensive and it wasn´t be worthy for this price.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Greek language is not so easy as it looks. Especially writting makes problems. But pronuncation is not so hard. In the university we took Greek courses.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Athens from your city?

To travel by plane. From Czech it is probably the most easiest and the economical way.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Athens?

Monastiraki.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Acropolis, Lykavitos Hill - amazing place, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian´s Arch, The theatre of Dionysos, Ancient Agora, Syntagma Square, National Gardens...

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Athens in the future?

Arrange some trips to Greek islands. They are amazing!!! Enjoy the parties. Feel free there. And remember we live only once so enjoy your life as much as you can!!! :-)
