Erasmus Experience in Athens, Greece. By Rita
Why did you choose to go to Athens, Greece?
Because I wanted a different experience.
How long does the grant last? How much money do you get for help?
6 months, €1300.
What's the student environment like in Athens?
At the moment it's complicated because some universities have been on strike and the students haven't had classes for 3 months. But the rest is incredible.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Athens to other students?
Yes, but not at the moment, it's likely that when you get to the university it will be closed and you'll have to go back home, but it depends on the university.
How's the country's food?
It's good, but it's better in Portugal!
How easily did you find accommodation in Athens?
It was easy and I'm very satisfied!
On average, how much did you spend living in Athens?
2500 in 5 months plus the plane journeys.
What's the language like? Did you attend a language course at the university?
The language is terrible, you don't understand anything and it's difficult even if you attend a course, and with the strike there aren't any open courses.
What is the cheapest way to get to Athens from your city?
Plane, but it's still very expensive.
Where would you recommend for a night out in Athens?
Exarchia.
And in terms of cultural visits
Athens isn't a very pretty place but the islands and other places in the country are incredible and worth a visit.
