What is it like to live in Antwerp? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I would certainly recommend it! There is always something to do and the city is beautiful. There are many little streets with nice shops or you can just have a walk through the parks or at the waterside (Schelde). If you cross the river you have a beautiful view over Antwerp.

What is the student lifestyle like in Antwerp?

Students love to party or have lunch and dinner together. They like to shop or just watch a movie and hang out together. Around the exams, many students study together at the library.

How much does it cost to live in Antwerp?

It's not cheap, but I think it's the same as other places in countries around Belgium.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Antwerp? Is there any advice you can give?

I would stay around the student neighborhood because there are some parts of Antwerp where you don't want to live as a student.

What is the food like? What are your favorite dishes?

The food is great! You have thousands of restaurants here, but I would certainly eat French fries, chocolate and waffles.

What places would you recommend visiting in Antwerp?

You should have seen the Meir (shopping street), central station, Schelde (river), MAS.

Is it good to eat out in Antwerp? Can you tell us your favorite spots?

When you go to 'Oude Koornmarkt' you can choose a restaurant depending on what you want to eat. There are many traditional Belgian restaurants, but also pasta, pizza, sushi...

Is the nightlife good in Antwerp? Where is good to go?

Yes! On a Thursday you should go to Red&Blue (on Saturday it is gay night) or to café d'Anvers. At other days there are TD's (student parties) and on Fridays, I like 'The villa'.

What advice would you give future students heading to Antwerp?

Don't walk alone at night (as a girl) because the streets from parties to the student neighborhood is not always that safe.
