Why did you choose to go to Antwerp, Bélgica?

I had no other choices but Antwerp in Belgium, since my home college has only partnership with the campus here. At first, I thought I was going to study in Brussels, but now I am aware of that being in Antwerp is much better for me.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am an Erasmus student for 5 months and I received 2000 euros in total.

What is the student lifestyle like in Antwerp?

It is enjoyable, easy, convenient, friendly.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Antwerp to other students?

I definitely recommend the city, but I have no idea about the University of Antwerp. I study in the campus KU Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven), 1-hour distant from Antwerp.

What is the food like?

I am vegetarian so I always cook for myself. But, of course, I cannot resist waffle and Frituur, the famous Belgian fast food restaurants.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Antwerp?

No, not like I expected. My rent is 280€/month, everything included. I can say that I love my home so much and have no regrets. Even my friends spend more time in my kitchen than theirs.

How much does it cost to live in Antwerp?

I think since I come from Turkey, and we are dealing with economical issues now, I don't spend as much as my European friends. I think I spend around 550 euros per month (rent included).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the university?

Yes, I attended the Dutch crash course in my campus in September and it lasted for 4 months. I met most of my friends thanks to this course.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Antwerp from your city?

By plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Antwerp?

Everywhere with free entrance other than De Prof. In addition to that very useful information, Pek Fabrik is my favorite club.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Antwerp?

Again, since I am vegetarian I don't eat out a lot. However, Frituur nº1 is of course a must and I love almost all falafel shops in the city.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There are many lovely museums such as the MAS (Museum aan de Stroom), which has a free viewpoint in its rooftop, or Rubenshuis, the former home of Peter Paul Rubens. Even the shopping center in Meir Street is amazing.
