What is it like to live in Antwerp? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Antwerp is wonderful to live in. Especially if you are a student. Tha arquitecture is wonderful and the shopping posibilities are endles!. We have wonderful restaurants, nightclubs, bars,... The only downside to living in Antwerp is that it can be a little pricey and the weather isn't always great.

What is the student lifestyle like in Antwerp?

Housing is usually easy to find and the student neighbourhoods surround antwerp university! there is so much to do in antwerp as a student! Festivals, nightclubs, bars. Different faculties organise events! there is never a dull moment.

How much does it cost to live in Antwerp?

Depending on where you rent your room prices can vary. The normal price range is between 250-400 most of the times this includes (water,electricity,wifi,heater,..)

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Antwerp? Is there any advice you can give?

It is usually not that difficult to find accomodation. sites you can use are kotweb.be

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Antwerp is a very multicultural city so you can find almost every kind of food in antwerp. But if you are in Belgium you defenitly need to try mussels with french fries and mayonaise (it's our national dish)

What places would you recommend visiting in Antwerp?

Visit the kathedral walk around in the City centre to admire all te old arquitecture. Het Zuid is also a very nice neighbourhood to walk around in. Op het eilandje you find a building called MAS on the roof you have a beautiful view over the entire city.

Is it good to eat out in Antwerp? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I love to eat sushi in a restaurant called Umi on the Groenplaats. There are alot of little, cosy restaurants in teh Hoogstraat where you can eat.

Is the nightlife good in Antwerp? Where is good to go?

We have a lot of different nightclubs and bars. Two of the most popular clubs are Red&Blue and Cafe D'Anvers. These nightclubs are situated in the red Light district so don't be shocked when you walk around there. My favourite club is called Cafe Local and is situated on de Waalse Kaai, de music there is a bit more salsa-ish.

What advice would you give future students heading to Antwerp?

Antwerp is a beautiful city to just walk around in. Have fun, make friends and bring an umbrella !
