Its a great city and like any other major European city has varied ethnicity. Its reasonably cheap in terms of transport with DeLijn pass.

That depends on location but a standard student room could cost arond 250-400 EUR.It may be cheaper with sharing.

Not at all. You can find loads of them in Erasmus and also in sites like vlan.be and immoweb.be

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Varied cuisines are available. Just take your pic. From Indian to chinese and other South East Asian cusines and Japanese as well.
Also steak houses are there in abundance. Lot of the resturants serve halal meat as well (check before ordering).
