Erasmus Experience in Antwerp, Belgium by Joan

Why did you choose to go to Antwerp, Belgium?

The prestige of the country. It's a great commercial port (for diamonds). It's the city for electronic music, so it's the best place for my studies.

Tomorrowland, beer, landscapes, food...

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

5 months (one term). I got €250 a month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Antwerp?

It's ideal. You can party all the time. Classes in the morning, work a bit in the afternoon and partying at night.

Would you recommend the city and the university of Antwerp to other students?

The city, yes. The university... it depends on what course you study. It's not highly recommended for engineering (there's a lot of theory and not very much practical work).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the university?

Everyone speaks English. You don't need to have a very high level, with a high B1, you'll get by. Dutch is very difficult. I didn't go on any course, but there are some.

Valencia - Brussels (Ryanair) + Brussels - Antwerp (Train).
