Why did you choose to go to Antwerp, Belgium?

Studying law - very good for European law as Belgium is said to be the heart of the EU
Not too far from home (England)
Recommended by lawyers at home

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

380euros per month from Erasmus fund
1 academic year

What is the student lifestyle like in Antwerp?

Good, lots to do and plenty of options depending on how you like to spend your spare time

Would you recommend the city and the University of Antwerp to other students?

Yes definitely

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Antwerp?

Yes I came in the Summer to find some so flights and accommodation etc

How much does it cost to live in Antwerp?

Expensive - rent and bills 550euros per month, not including any transport/food/social-going out-course materials etc

On average I spend on all these things per month around 1300euros a month

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I did a Dutch course in the uni which was very difficult, I can only use a few basic conversational phrases however everyone speaks English so it is ok. If you have the opportunity to do the language course it is worth it.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Antwerp from your city?

Walk/tram

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Antwerp?

I have only been to several clubs - they all seem small and not as good as home as I am used to big places (Manchester UK). They are average but I do not like the location - it feels unsafe in the middle of the red light district where the popular clubs are

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Antwerp?

There are a few restaurants but I have mostly been to eat at Restaurants in nearby places e.g. Brussels and Ghent

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Many museums if you are a fan of art or fashion

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Antwerp in the future?

Be careful when choosing accommodation - mine has been very problematic...not as promised in the contract and am seeing a lawyer
