Why did you choose to go to Antwerp, Belgium?

In my University it is very usual to choose countries such as Poland and Czech Republic because the information is easy to find. Instead, I needes a challenge for the greatest adventure of my life, so far. So, I chose Antwerp, Belgium . My Erasmus coordenator in Portugal gave me great information and advice about the country and showed me how much Plantjin Hogeschool would be a plus in my Education.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My University in Portugal has an agreement with the students in ways that we receive 80% of the scholarship once we arrive to our destination country and 20% when we return to Portugal . I was in Belgium for 5 months and my first payment was one month after I arrived . I received in total 1350€.

What is the student lifestyle like in Antwerp?

It's very nice . Everyone will greet you with a smile , and you help you if you need something.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Antwerp to other students?

Yes, of course ! For me it was a very unique and unforgettable experience. Now, 2 years later, thinking back to when I was to make my decision, I wouldn't chose any other country, I wouln'd have it any other way.

What is the food like?

You will find it strange, but you will enjoy it a lot !

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Antwerp?

More or less. There are a lot of choices, but the price ranges vary a lot. It's a search that must be done carefully and well thought. I searched for accomodation for 2 months.

How much does it cost to live in Antwerp?

It's not cheap, but with some caution you are able to do a little bit of everything without spending too much.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Well, I went there with some basics in German, so, it wasn't very hard to understand a few words here and there. Yes, there are and the teachers are very helpful.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Antwerp from your city?

By plane, of course. The flights are not that expensive.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Antwerp?

Caffe D'Anvers ! It's very easy to get there, the environment is very cool and you will definitly have a lot of fun there .

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Antwerp in the future?

the city is beautiful, so enjoy it. Specilly on Christmas time !
