What is the student lifestyle like in Antwerp?

Always full of events and stuff to do. With the right people and attitude, you won't be able to stop a minute!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Antwerp to other students?

Yep, of course! I've studied at KU Leuven in Antwerp and the professors are very professional and available to answer every question. The city is just magic and you'll fall in love with it without even noticing!

What is the food like?

It depends on the food that you like. Restaurants are good but the choice is not one of the largest (steak is omnipresent) and the prices (for students) aren't that low.

What did it cost you to find your accommodation in Antwerp?

It cost me a lot of patience and effort! I mean, my standards were pretty high (my own toilet for less than 300€: keep on dreaming! ) but at the end I found my place in this adorable city (without my private wc). And still I had a wonderful experience!

How much does it cost to live in Antwerp?

Uhm, a "kot" (room) will be between the 250€ and 400€. But Albert Heijn (a quite cheap supermarket) will always be there to help you with its ready-to-go soups and salads and Panos with its delicious sandwiches!

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

At KU Leuven (in Antwerp) there was a course but I didn't take part to it.

Dutch isn't easy but there are more difficult languages. I love it but I'm also not impartial because it's my second language. Still, I've heard from other students that it can be studied without trying to kill yourself with big amounts of study. And also, you'll find out it's a pretty funny language.; )

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Antwerp from your city?

Well, I come from Italy so plane + train. You could also go there by canoe or by foot but...

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Antwerp?

Drinking? Any pub with good beer (thus anywhere).

Disco: Café d'Anvers, Red&Blue!
