Daddy's girl
Seeing daddy again - Visitors from Germany
Some days later, finally my Dad and his girlfriend arrived. I had already booked a hotel for them which was located right in the city centre. I have always been a "daddy's girl", so I was really excited about his visit. We've never been separated so long, and I wanted to show him everything about my new home for limited time.
They arrived Friday afternoon, and as I had a lecture until 6 p. m. I was so excited the whole day, couldn't concentrate at all and just wanted it to end. Finally, the professor ended the lecture (15 minutes earlier, thank god! ) and I rushed out of the university. I called my Dad in order to ask him where he was while I was already heading to the hotel which was about 15 minutes by foot away from the faculty. Finally, he responded to my calls and told me that they were already in the city centre walking around. He explained where he was, and it was just 50 metres in front of me. I tried to find them and there he was - I accelerated a bit and fell into his arms. I was so happy that they were there!
We went drinking a coffee and made plans for the next 3 days. We wanted to go to Paris the next day, visit the beach on Sunday and well, Monday I would have lectures, so no special plans for that day. Then we looked for something to eat and talked about my time in France so far. It was so nice to have my Daddy back! He is really one of the most important persons in my life and I really like his new girlfriend. So, the evening passed away and they were tired from the car drive, so I finally went back to the residency and we agreed on meeting at the train station the next morning.
Discovering Paris in one day
The next day started early, because we also only had one day to discover Paris. We took the train and started the journey. When we arrived, we decided to have some breakfast and coffee first and then we went to Montmartre because I wanted to show them the amazing view from up there. Fortunately, the weather was again very nice for the beginning of March, so we really had a great view. We went on to the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysees where we had lunch and did some shopping. Then, we went to the Eiffel tower and decided to get up to the top. So, we had to queue up a while, but it was worth it. At more than 300 metres you can just see everything. Unfortunately, it was a bit cold but that was okay. Back to earth we went to the nice park next to Trocadero and relaxed a bit, took some pictures and went on to Notre Dame.
After that, we were all quite tired, had a coffee and some crêpes and decided to pass by the Hotel de Ville and start our way back to the train station. Because it was so expensive, we preferred eating something for dinner at Amiens. So, we arrived at about 7 p. m. And looked for a nice restaurant in Amiens. We found one and well, had a kind of nice dinner even if it was nothing special. But the price was okay, and the dessert was great (as always in France). I enjoyed it so much to have my Dad with me that time passed so quickly.
Baie de Somme - Looking for Seals
The next day, we went to Baie de Somme, a nice beach where you can see seals sometimes. It was windy, but sunny and so we stayed there sometime and finally we really saw seals! Only in the water, but that was already a nice experience! As there was nothing else to do, we sat down in the only restaurant there was in that small village and drank something. Then we decided to go on and discover the region a little bit. We found a nice village and went there to have lunch. After that, we returned to Amiens and passed sometime in the city centre. It was quite nice and relaxing; we had coffee and some macarons and enjoyed the time together. And then the weekend was already over and there were only two days remaining...
Saying Goodbye again
I was sad but told myself to enjoy the time that we still had together, so I went earlier into the city centre to have breakfast with them at the hotel and go to my lecture then. After the second lecture I came back and we spent some time together. But the next day I would already have to say goodbye because they were leaving in the morning to go to Brussels for the birthday of my Dad's girlfriend. So, I went there to have breakfast a last time and they gave me some presents. Finally, I had to say goodbye, which was really sad. But I would see them again soon, so it was okay.
It was even worse that I had to go to the lecture after the goodbye because I really didn't want to be in a lecture now. But well, I had to, and a bit of distraction wasn't that bad. In the afternoon I would meet my French friend, so it was okay. I had to continue with my daily life, and I could not cry the whole time because I was missing somebody. So, I told myself to focus on my studies again, be concentrated and improve my French. Because the first exams would come soon...
