The best waffles in Benidorm

This chain of waffle shops is quite famous, at least in Murcia. I don't know if the waffle stands in the street with the same picture belong to the same company that distributes the physical stores. What I do know, is that when I see the picture, I already have more confidence that the waffle is going to be good. However, I am talking about those from the shops with their own establishment, not the street vendor. They taste the same (I have tried waffles from three different shops), whereas those from the mobile stands with the symbol don't always so I will tell you specifically about the two shops in Benidorm and their food, especially the waffles.

The two shops are found very close together on the street with the most commercial and touristic affluence, which is quite strange. I know it as the 'coño' street because you always bump into someone and say, ''coño' (holy crap or something along those lines, only more vulgar), what are you doing here? ', or that's what they say, haha. Just walking down the street, comes the characteristic smell of the waffles and it drives me crazy. In fact, I think it is the best smell in the world.

The two shops that I know in Benidorm have the same decoration and the same food.

What can you eat?

  • First of all, the waffles: If you are in Benidorm and you fancy one, you can't go wrong with this place. You can order one on its own, or with chocolate, white chocolate, cream, liquor, strawberry, caramel, dulce de leche, Nutella or ice cream. A waffle only costs 2 euros 10. Those which have a topping, other than Nutella or ice cream cost 2 euros 50, the Nutella costs 3 euros and one with ice cream, 3 euros 20. What's more, you can add a second ingredient or coconut for 30 cents more. My favourite is the chocolate one, and my companion's is always usually chocolate and cream - Both delicious.
  • One good announcement is that they now sell boxes to take away and you can also buy them in their online shop. Their boxes which contain 12 waffles are 13 euros 60 or, 12 waffles with a container of chocolate cost 16 euros 60. They come in bags, but I've never tried them. Although, this company has been recognised as the best manufacturer of frozen dough, so they can't be bad.

  • Another option to the waffle that doesn't usually fail are the crepes. The same ingredients as the waffles can be added to them and for the same price - although you can also order the Serrano ham and cheese, or the York ham and cheese crepes for 3 euros 50.
  • Ice creams in a cone or tub: A small size costs 1 euro 70 and the big, 2 euros 75. An extra scoop costs 1. 10 on the small cone, and 1. 75 on the big.
  • Milkshakes are 3 euros 35.
  • If you want to eat something savoury and larger, there are also hamburgers for 2 euros 30; sandwiches, at the same price; popcorn for 1 euro 30 and hot dogs for 2 euros 80. I have tried the hot dog and the popcorn and they are very good.
  • To drink: there are water, soft drinks, milkshakes, slushies and coffee. I recommend you to order water with the waffle or crepe. It's what’s best. You can carry it in your bag, although the drinks aren't very expensive in this place.

I went there today and discovered something that I believe wasn't there before. It is a wall decorated with images of the original Manneken Pis from Belgium in different outfits, seeing as they change it every once in a while. I saw it whilst I was in Brussels and although it is very small, it greatly amused me. In the following photo, you can see it with funny disguises. To me it seems like a wise move regarding the decoration, given that the theme is very much related to the establishment.

The service is average. I have never had any problems and it's usually fast.

As well as these two shops in Benidorm, there are others in Nucia, Valencia, Zaragoza, Navarra and Murcia, etc. I have been to the one in the Thader, which has the logo and the waffles are the same. However, it doesn't have the rest of the food like in the shops in Benidorm and it's more expensively priced so I suppose they are distributors of the Mannekin Pis waffles.
