What is it like to live in Aberdeen? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's rainy and expensive and people aren't so nice. Besides, the local accent and Doric-influenced dialect is IMPOSSIBLE to decipher! Although the North Sea is beautiful, Stonehaven is close and is stunning, and there are castles everywhere.

What is the student lifestyle like in Aberdeen?

No comment. I did not really identify with the student culture here and did my own thing.

How much does it cost to live in Aberdeen?

The British Pound is worth more than the Euro. With that, one should always have that in mind and be aware when making purchases. It is more expensive. As well as it being a big oil port, it is a wealthy city making the prices more expensive. One should spend wisely.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Aberdeen? Is there any advice you can give?

Aberdeen is a big university city- lots of students. This makes accommodation very competitive. It takes months to find a flat, but this method is cheaper than university accommodation. Both are expensive.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Let's just say that the British are not known for their cuisine...

Cook for yourself! It is a port and has access to fresh fish. The best fish is the salmon.

What places would you recommend visiting in Aberdeen?

I recommend visiting the local historical places: castles, museums, old churches and cathedrals.

Is it good to eat out in Aberdeen? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I repeat: The food isn't great and it is more ideal to cook for yourself.

Is the nightlife good in Aberdeen? Where is good to go?

No and it's expensive.

What advice would you give future students heading to Aberdeen?

It looks different in person than the pictures. If you have the opportunity to visit before you go, I highly advise that you do so.
