What is it like to live in Aarhus? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I absolutely love living in Aarhus. The city is big enough not to be bored, but it still feels like living in a smaller town. I would recommend it to everyone.

What is the student lifestyle like in Aarhus?

The city is full of students, there are many student events throughout the year.

How much does it cost to live in Aarhus?

Living in Denmark is expensive. Even after you learn where to shop and drink, you will need at least 1000 euros a month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Aarhus? Is there any advice you can give?

It is extremely hard to find accommodation. Apply at studenthousingaarhus.dk well in advance (at least 6 months before arriving to Aarhus) to get a proper place. Remember that you always have to pay a high deposit for housing in Denmark.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Get ready to eat a lot of pork, rye bread, licorice and weird tasting sauces. At the beginning you won't be able to eat it, at the end you won't be able to live without it.

What places would you recommend visiting in Aarhus?

AROS, beaches, Deer park, Den Gamle By...

Is it good to eat out in Aarhus? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Restaurants are of a really good quality and very expensive.

Mackie's Pizza and Oli Nico are my favourite and affordable places to eat.

Is the nightlife good in Aarhus? Where is good to go?

There is a great nightlife! The Danes like to drink a lot, so prepare your liver. There are plenty of good bars and clubs, generally it is expensive to drink out, so I would recommend to do it 'the Danish way' - predrink at home with your friends and then go out.

What advice would you give future students heading to Aarhus?

Prepare yourself well in advance, safe a lot of money and you will have a time of your life.
