What is it like to live in Aarhus? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Great city for sure and I would definitely recommend going there. It is kinda like the middle ground for Aalborg and Copenhagen while still being its own. It is more expensive all around than Aalborg but cheaper than Copenhagen. Size-wise it is the second biggest city in Denmark so you will have a lot more possibilities for things to do and see compared to Aalborg while Copenhagen is at the top.

What is the student lifestyle like in Aarhus?

Student life in Aarhus is great - you can get student discounts in so many places. In general, Aarhus is doing a lot for students except when it comes to flats which it really lacks.

How much does it cost to live in Aarhus?

Hard to put a number on but it more expensive than Aalborg but cheaper than Copenhagen if that is any help.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Aarhus? Is there any advice you can give?

The last rumour on the block is that it is hard and the only advice I can give is to start looking early.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Aarhus is full of different restaurants, street foods and cafe's and not many of them serve traditional Danish food - maybe we do not really enjoy it anymore. Aarhus is also quite international which applies to the food as well and I think my favorite place is "Streetfood" which is kinda like a big bazaar in center with loads of small food shops - best place to go with friends as everybody can find something they like.

What places would you recommend visiting in Aarhus?

Aros for sure - great art gallery.

Streetfood as mentioned above.

"Latiner kvarteret" which translates to The Latin Quaters and it is super cozy small streets with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.

The new harbor front is also great.

If you like animals you go watch and feed deer in "Dyrehaven".

Is the nightlife good in Aarhus? Where is good to go?

Nightlife in Aarhus is great and it boots loads of different places so everybody can find a place they like. It is also a small city for most internationals so you will properly find that everything is quite close and focused mostly on the center. If you are into fancy and high tech Aarhus got you covered for sure while still maintaining the cheap small bars/bodegas.

What advice would you give future students heading to Aarhus?

Danes can be quite scared of meeting new people and letting them into their lives but give them time and you have a friend for life. That being said we are super friendly to help everyone out and even the elders speak English.
