What is it like to live in Aarhus? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a really nice little city. Many students and therefore many young people and a nice nightlife. I really like it here.

What is the student lifestyle like in Aarhus?

It’s nice to study at Aarhus university because all the faculties are close to each other and you can mingle with all the other students (especially every Friday when it's drinking-time) - there is also a nice park located in the center of the campus.. a very nice place.

How much does it cost to live in Aarhus?

It's Danish prices - so pretty expensive. The rent for a shared apartment is about 3500 dkk - just for a room pr. person. If you live at a dorm you can get it cheaper.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Aarhus? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes, it's pretty difficult, but if you need a place to stay try these websites: boligportal.dk, findroommate.dk kollegiekontoret.dk - otherwise the international center can help you!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is okay... not much to say about Danish cuisine.

What places would you recommend visiting in Aarhus?

I would go to the museum AROS and to the beach, and the wood at Risskov - just for a nice walk. Otherwise you could go fishing at Mosgaard beach, just about 10 km from the city centre. And then the small Tivoli is nice as well.

Is it good to eat out in Aarhus? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Go to the street Mejlgade and eat at "Den rustikke" or "Oli nico" (cheap and nice) or "Svineriet". Otherwise, there is a nice place at the harbor.

Is the nightlife good in Aarhus? Where is good to go?

I would go to "cafe paradis"-- it's a really nice place if you want to dance. It's located at the street called "Paradisgade" just above the cinema (nice cinema by the way) there are also many cozy bars in "Mejlgade". Otherwise go to "Godsbanen" - all sorts of events and concerts at that place or "Unibar" which is at the university. In "Stakladen" there is a quiz for students (in English) every second Tuesday night, and they have international night (crazy parties) at Tuesdays as well at the cafe just above the bar.

What advice would you give future students heading to Aarhus?

Go to the international bar at the student house. It's always funny! Otherwise, volunteer at the student house too - a very nice way to meet people.
