What is it like to live in Aarhus? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Aarhus is a city that is very good at having a lot of cultural events - often they are also free. It is the second largest city in Denmark, but it does not really have the feel of a large city, it is very easy to get around and you have everything nearby, both beaches, forests, harbour, shopping, university etc.

What is the student lifestyle like in Aarhus?

Student life is really good. The university is big and there is also a lot of other kinds of students in the city. You can definitely feel that it is one of the youngest cities in Denmark in terms of population. Furthermore, the university is to a degree spread around the whole city so you feel very integrated into the city as a student of the university.

How much does it cost to live in Aarhus?

As the second largest city in Denmark, Aarhus is quite expensive. Accommodation will easily cost you around 500+ euros.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Aarhus? Is there any advice you can give?

It can be difficult, but there are a lot of dorms and if you come from outside Aarhus you get in front of the line to most of them.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There are a lot of restaurants and that are relatively cheap or offer discounts, also there are Street Food halls where you can often get a meal rather cheaply as well.

What places would you recommend visiting in Aarhus?

Den Gamle By, Salling Rooftop, Aros, Jægergårdsgade, the beaches, Dokk1, Moesgård, Streetfood, Latinerkvarteret, University (the old campus and the parks).

Is it good to eat out in Aarhus? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes.

Is the nightlife good in Aarhus? Where is good to go?

If you prefer bars the nightlife is quite nice. As a student, I prefer to party at the university parties - Friday bars etc.

What advice would you give future students heading to Aarhus?

Look for accommodation through Facebook, there are several groups where people look for roommates.
