Why did you choose to go to Warsaw, Poland?

It is a destination that not a lot of students choose and before I got here, I did not know anything about Poland nor Warsaw. I seemed interesting to know a bit more about it.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am staying in Warsaw for four months and I get about €400 a month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Warsaw?

It is really great, people are very open and friendly. There are a lot of cheap bars and cafés and also the clubs are nice to go to.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Warsaw to other students?

I would definitely recommend Warsaw! It is such a nice city: the people are very friendly, Warsaw has got a rich history to offer and at the same time it is a modern and upcoming city!

What is the food like?

The food is great, in comparison to a lot of European cities (Belgium, …) it is also very cheap! Polish cuisine, Italian, … it is all of great quality!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Warsaw?

It took me al lot of time and effort to find my studio. As I am only staying for 4 months (most Erasmus students stay for 5 - 6 months), it was hard to find someone who wanted to rent me something for that period. But if you look for something on erasmusu, or on Facebook, you will certainly find something good!

How much does it cost to live in Warsaw?

I found a great studio for me alone in the very city center: I pay about €435 (1700 PLN) for my studio, everything included. But if you find something to share with some people, or a bit further away from the center, it can be a lot cheaper!

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes you can follow a Polish course at Polonicum and an extra foreign language course.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Warsaw from your city?

For me the easiest way to travel to Belgium is to go by airplane. Taking the bus is a lot cheaper but it takes a long time.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Warsaw?

Club Park, Pawilony, ...

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Warsaw?

Five restaurant, Frida (Nowy swiat), TGI friday's, zapiecek (polish cuisine), Sphinx restaurant, …

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Old Town, New Town, Copernicus science center, the palace of science and culture, ...
