What is it like to live in Vilnius? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

As I was born in Vilnius, it is my beloved city. It is beautiful, has a convenient public transportation system, relatively low prices and nice cultural events. However it is cold in winter and rainy in autumn.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vilnius?

It's nice, you can get a lot of discounts if you search for it. Lots of clubs etc.

How much does it cost to live in Vilnius?

300 euro/ month

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Vilnius? Is there any advice you can give?

The cheapest and easiest way to get a room is to contact the University you chose for Erasmus and live in its dormitories. The rent is extremely expensive and you should be aware of high price of common expenses in wintertime.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

It's ok, I guess. I especially like šaltibarščiai - cold beetroot soup. There are lots of vegetarian restaurants in the city.

What places would you recommend visiting in Vilnius?

Gediminas castle, the University of Vilnius (especially the Belfry of st. Juhn church), KGB museum, the Old Town, the church of st. Anna.

Is it good to eat out in Vilnius? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it's nice and relatively cheap. I often go to "meat lover's club" and "kitchen".

Is the nightlife good in Vilnius? Where is good to go?

I am no expert in nightlife, sorry...

What advice would you give future students heading to Vilnius?

People may seem a little bit grumpy of a first glance, but you should know that Lithuanians are nice and soft inside. :)
