Why did you choose to go to Nicosia, Cyprus?

I've chosen to go to Nicosia mainly because Cyprus it's a country which is not very common to go to for the Erasmus. I also think it's quite interesting to be part of this culture and the history of the island which is present everyday by the boarder which divides it. Last but not least the fantastic weather is obviously another good point why to choose Nicosia.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship started in September 2015 and will end in July 2016. From the Erasmus organisation I get 210 Euro per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Nicosia?

Nicosia is not very big, but has about 4 or 5 universities. But the Erasmus people normally know each other. Normally we don't have that much to do for the study (it depends on the subject) and for that reason we have a lot of time to visit the city or go to the beach.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Nicosia to other students?

I would definitley recommend the city of Nicosia. The old town is very beautiful, but there are some others part which are not so nice. It has to be said that Nicosia is full of cars and the traffic is very annoying, but once you get used to it, you don't recognize this anymore. There are a lot of things to do for students and everybody else, but you have to be aware that it's not as big as Berlin or London and for that you don't have things like concerts of well-known artists for example.

I'm not a student of the University of Nicosia, but of the European University of Cyprus which I can really recommend. It's not very big and the classes are not crowded. For that the learning atmosphere is very good and we discuss a lot.

What is the food like?

The food here is typically Greek. You have a lot of meat which is very tasteful and the so-called Meze is very good. You eat it with a minimum of two people and get a lot of food to share. For vegetarians it's a bit more complicated but they will also find a lot of good food to eat.
